Technical Support

Stone Marine Services are looking to strengthen their team following a successful period of growth. We are actively seeking technical support to join our busy team in Inverkeithing.

The job role consists of offering technical support within the service department, to assist the service manager when supporting off-site service engineers in order that emergency and routine maintenance of our product portfolio is carried out to a high standard. The product portfolio that requires technical support includes ships’ propulsion systems; controllable pitch propellers; thrusters; hydraulic steering gears; shaft seals; gearboxes and deck machinery etc.


  • Process enquiries & orders for spares that are required by customers, in accordance with existing commercial based procedures
  • Above requires the ability to read technical drawings & design specifications, then correspond with relevant parts lists
  • Liaising with store personnel & accounts DPT to ensure timely dispatch & invoicing of goods compliant with laid down Quality Procedures
  • Develop standard technical support packages for all major equipment
  • Produce Risk Assessments & Method Statements as part of Health & Safety regulations
  • Respond to service requests internally within agreed operational procedures & service level agreements
  • Ensure all documentation is controlled in accordance with our Quality Procedures
  • Assist in the organisation of the service coordination when breakdowns occur & require immediate action
  • Review & analysis of technical information included in service reports in order to generate after-sales and future recommendations to the customer
  • Attend bi-weekly service meetings & communicate potential issues in order to implement timely resolutions

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, with good accuracy & attention to detail
  • CAD experience/qualification is desirable
  • Qualification in engineering, Drawing & Design is desirable
  • Flexibility & ability to use your own initiative
  • Proficient computer/keyboard skills
  • Ability to be assertive when required
  • Ability to work under pressure & to deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Quick to learn & proactive
  • Ability to present a professional image whilst retaining a sense of calm & efficiency
