The month our team in the UK and Africa have been travelling globally to serve our customers’ needs. From seal bonding in the UK to service attendances in Istanbul and Walvis Bay. We also caught up with Judith from Service Support to get an insight into her pivotal role at SMS.
Controls Fault Finding Attendance
In Lowescroft, our controls technician attended this offshore vessel to carry out joystick system fault finding.
After careful inspection, we replaced the existing interface card from onboard spares. The system responded well to testing and we carried out sea trials successfully.
Workshop Repairs in Africa
Our team of service engineers and propeller technicians in Africa have been busy with workshop repairs and service attendances.
In Walvis Bay, our propeller technicians repaired a damaged four-bladed FPP. The blades were removed from the vessel in dock and shipped to our workshop, where the repair was undertaken.
African Engineers attend Service Job in Turkey
With travel restrictions affecting our UK based engineers travelling, we deployed our African engineers to attend this job in Istanbul, Turkey.
Working on behalf of our sister company Stone Marine Shipcare, we carried out a blade seal and OD box exchange on a TCT-240 Nakashima bow thruster.
Seal Bonding
Situated in drydock near Hull, our seals engineer attended this cargo vessel to bond Lagersmit inboard seals. After carrying out the installation and the 12-hour static text, we rotated the shaft to conclude another swift service attendance.
New Addition to the African Fleet
In other news, we’ve added a new vehicle to the South African fleet. The Bakkie has just surfaced from the print shop with fresh SMS branding and it’s straight into action transporting a Data Hidrolik unit.
