Monthly Roundup – January

January Monthly Roundup 2021

As we entered the new year with optimism, it’s proven to be another difficult period for all. Fortunately, our service team are able to continue and provide our services to the marine industry. This month, our engineers were travelling around the UK and overseas to undertake various service jobs.

Service Team Ready for 2021

It’s a big thumbs up from our engineers. With dispensation for worldwide travel, the team are gearing up for another busy year of service attendances.

Whether it’s a planned docking or emergency repair, our team of skilled mechanical and electrical service engineers have the expert knowledge required to complete the most demanding projects.

Shaft Seals Retrofit

At the beginning of the month, our engineer travelled to Batam, Indonesia to carry out a retrofit of a new Lagersmit supreme shaft seal following removal of the existing Cedervall arrangement. The job was undertaken by bonding the split FWD seals in situ and installing the AFT seals with the propeller blown off.

We work with a range of OEM’s and have the experience and expertise to take on any stern seal project, big or small.

Under the supervision of our experienced workshop team in Inverkeithing, the trainees were getting some valuable practical experience as they progress through their training and development programmes.

Complete Thruster Overhaul

Our engineers were in the north of Scotland to carry out a complete thruster exchange of a SCHOTTEL SRP 170 unit on this standby safety vessel.

We removed the existing thruster and returned it to SCHOTTEL to be overhauled. Our engineers then set the replacement unit up both mechanically and electrically inside the dock. The lower thrust blocks were machined and main drive adjusted. With everything in working order, the vessel underwent sea trials successfully.
