Workshop Manager
Stone Marine Services is looking to add an experienced workshop manager to the team.
We are looking for an engineering manager who is accustomed to working in a busy setting. The candidate we seek is someone who can task set, plan and manage the workshop resource to deliver the equipment repairs on time and within budget. This is wide and varied role. You will have a talented and professional team of fitters, warehouse staff and apprentices who are at different stages of their career journey working under your leadership. To this end, we expect that you will have good interpersonal skills to create an encouraging and productive environment.
Requirements:
- Can demonstrate sound mechanical understanding
- Able to read an engineering mechanical drawing and relay technical know-how
- Accustomed to managing a small team, including young apprentices
- You will be an excellent communicator who can support a growing team
- Be familiar with quality systems and processes
- Have a safety-first attitude
- Provide leadership and mentoring
- Identify skill gaps, provide training and or organise training (external)
- Manage tooling and equipment budgets
- Can plan resources while balancing different priorities at the same time
- Driving licence
- Forklift licence
- Crane certification
This exciting role will see you work across a range of equipment types, from ship’s propulsion systems to anchor capstans and winches. This is a full-time, permanent position. You will be based in our offices in Inverkeithing, you must have the right to live and work in the UK (unfortunately, there are no sponsorship opportunities). The company offers a contributory pension scheme, including salary sacrifice and other employee-related benefits. Holidays are 28 days, including bank holidays.
