This month, we witnessed another busy spell of service as our engineers travel the world serving the needs of our customers. In other news, we bolstered our service partnerships by adding Kwant Controls to our portfolio. We also strengthened our agreement with Kawasaki, extending our service offering to the UK and Europe.
SMS Strengthened our Partnership with Kawasaki
After months of discussions, we were delighted to announce our new service partnership with Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Adding to our existing agreement, this deal enables us to undertake service and maintenance on Kawasaki equipment in the UK and Europe.
With the current restrictions in place, unfortunately, travelling to Japan wasn’t possible. However, we concluded the contract signing virtually.
Group Sales Director, Ryan McIntyre had this to say:

The opportunity to work with Kawasaki in the UK and Europe will strengthen those ties, ensuring that the service needs of customers in the region are met, we very much look forward to working together”.

Bow Thruster Overhaul in Poland
This month, one of our service engineers attended Remontowa Shiprepair Yard in Gdansk to carry out a bow thruster overhaul.
With help and assistance from the shipyard staff, we removed the unit from the vessel before disassembling and rebuilding the thruster in the workshop. After conducting the appropriate tests, we concluded another service attendance on schedule.
Controls Service Partnership with Kwant Controls
This month proved to be a busy period concluding and extending our service partnerships. We were thrilled to get this deal signed and announce our agreement with Kwant Controls where we will provide controls service support. This is an exciting development for customers who depend on skilled and qualified engineers who understand control systems.
Pre-covid, SMS Sales Director, travelled to the Netherlands to meet with the team at Kwant HQ. Ryan had this to say about concluding the deal:
“KC has been designing and manufacturing innovative, world-leading nautical systems since 1937. When the opportunity arose to work more closely with Kwant we were delighted to have those discussions. This is an exciting development for customers who depend on skilled and qualified engineers who understand control systems. Seal Bonding in Malta
Another service attendance on the road for our seals’ engineer as he visited the island of Malta. On this occasion, he was tasked with overhauling Lagersmit AFT seals by bonding in situ. Again, working efficiently, we concluded the job on time and carried out necessary checks before the vessel departed.
